Ocean, Sunshine, Portugal – paintings by Dora

Welcome back to my blog, sharing my paintings about Portugal. Five recent watercolors to show you from my Portugal Artworks Collection, this time we visit near Peniche the Capela do Baleal , and also the Marina of Peniche, we go to Lisbon, to the Largo Das Portas Do Sol, a typical Portuguese House With Bougainvillea in Ericeira, and a sea abstract titled Through The Eyes of a Seagull.

The first painting is my handmade watercolor about an old white and blue house with bougainvillea, in Ericeira Portugal on a cobblestoned street.
Painting was inspired by my own photograph which I took in our visit to this beautiful fishing town.

The second watercolor painting is about the Marina da Ribeira in Peniche Portugal, with the Rampa de Peniche ( launch ramp) and the Instituto de Socorros a Náufragos, the building of the lifeboat station which was built in 1940. This painting was inspired by my own photograph I took there on our recent visit.

The next painting about the iconic yellow tram in Lisbon, at the Largo das Portas Do Sol.
This painting was inspired by my own photograph I took at our recent visit in Alfama.

Through The Eyes of a Seagull painting by Dora Hathazi Mendes

The next artwork is a sea abstract titled Through The Eyes of a Seagull , an original handmade watercolor painting, about the turquoise ocean waves and sandy beach from birds view.

And finally a recent watercolor painting, a beautiful view to the Chapel of Baleal in Portuguese the Ermida de Santo Estevao, and the Atlantic ocean with unique rock formations near Peniche in Portugal. This artwork was inspired by my own photograph from our recent visit to this amazing landscape.

My handmade watercolors about Viseu, Azenhas do Mar, Peniche, Obidos, and Elvas

Thank you for visiting my blog, where I share my paintings about Portugal. Five recent watercolors to show you from my Portugal Artworks Collection, this time I show you my watercolors about the seaside town Peniche , the medieval village Obidos, a historical old city Viseu, near Sintra Azenhas do Mar, and another medieval town Elvas.

A watercolor painting about yachts moored at Marina da Ribeira in Peniche, Portugal.
This painting is inspired by my own photograph, we had a flash visit on a quite grey day to Peniche, and I was hoping to take some nice photos for inspiration for my paintings. While the sky was overcast, and only some blue shown, and the sun was shy during the whole day, it gave to the place a special atmosphere, and soft colors. It was not so hot, not cold either, we enjoyed to walk around and eat sardinhas in a restaurant, so it was a very pleasant visit all in all.
Peniche is a seaside town, was build on a rocky peninsula. Famous about its long beaches, from its port boats departs daily to the beautiful Berlengas Islands daily.

My recent watercolor painting about Azenhas do Mar, a beautiful postcard perfect village near Sintra Portugal. The idyllic view to the village with its whitewashed houses, and a natural swimming pool filled with sea water is one of the most photographed places in Portugal with reason.
A year ago we celebrated there the Valentines day, and I felt like to paint a new watercolor about it, I hope you will enjoy it.

Watercolor painting about Elvas in Portugal, a beautiful fortified medieval town close to the Spanish border. This watercolor was inspired by my own photograph about the Largo de Santa Clara.

Another watercolor painting which was inspired by my own photograph, from our visit to Viseu in Central Portugal. Viseu is a historical old city made of granite, which creates with its colours a special atmosphere. I wanted to recreate its uniqueness in my painting, I hope you will enjoy it.

And lastly returnig to one of my favourite subject, the charming village of Obidos, a medieval gem in Portugal, with its typical colors of blooming bougainvilleas, the bright blue sky, whitewashed houses on a cobblestoned narrow street of Travessa De Mestre Fernando..
